Description
Women in Wood
Artist Reception: March 12 12 - 2 pm
This Gallery Show features three female artists who work with wood. Each of them using different techniques to create amazing works of art.
Pamela Parker
Ms. Parker uses driftwood, maple and myrtle wood which is carefully cleaned, sanded, bleached and cleaned again. Then it is ready for Pam’s original sketch inspired by the shape, size and texture of the wood. After this sketch is burned, it is highlighted with watercolor and sealed with acrylic or varnish for permanence.
Janette Square
Ms. Square began using wood as an artistic medium in 1999. The natural color and grain of wood is the perfect medium for creating colorful and realistic pieces based on nature. She has a unique ability to create from a photograph a piece of intarsia artwork. Her work has been featured in Woodworks Crafts and Woodcraft Magazine.
Shirley Marie Dees
Ms. Dees’ artistic style is unique and combines wood-burning and color theory. She uses transparent acrylics to emphasize the natural grain of the wood. Images in this medium have a richness and depth that is distinctly different from art on paper.
