With motive unknown, police investigation is still under way

Lincoln City, OR – On the evening of Sept. 13, a concert at the Lincoln City Cultural Center was brought to an early end at intermission, after the managers on duty were notified that the Lincoln City Police Department had received a 911 call threatening violence against attendees. Officers from the Lincoln City Police Department, supported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police troopers, secured the building and ensured the safe departure of 100 patrons, staff and volunteers.
“We’re grateful to the Lincoln City Police Officers who went above and beyond to ensure the safety of our guests, volunteers, and staff,” said Jason Corso, Cultural Center programs director. “We’re also deeply moved by the grace and understanding shown by our guests and our performers."
Police have confirmed that while the identity of the caller is still unknown, there is no evidence that the caller intended to target any particular individual or group affiliated with the concert. There is also no indication, from the limited available information, that the threat was motivated by any recent political events, said Sgt. Torin Liden.
“The investigation may take some time, but the police department assures us that they are utilizing every avenue available to them. In the meantime, it's important not to jump to any conclusions about the threat, the person who made it, and the motives behind it," said Niki Price, former director who was on site during the event. "Of course, we are all disturbed by this experience, and we're looking everywhere for reasons. But now, more than ever, let's keep calm and take care of one another."
The Lincoln City Cultural Center extends its sincere thanks to local law enforcement agencies for their swift and professional response, and to the audience and performers for their patience, generosity, and composure during a difficult moment.
