Free lecture / Performance - Balinese Rindik music by Gamelan Sari Pandawa

A group of people are posing for a picture in front of musical instruments.

Gamelan Sari Pandhawa, a non-profit cultural organization based in Oregon, perform on bronze and wood instruments elegantly handcrafted and painted by master instrument makers in central Java. This group has been dedicated to the celebration of Javanese arts, music, dance and shadow puppetry since 1995.

The ensemble will feature the tingklik, a bamboo xylophone, and angklung, a set of tuned bamboo rattles, combined with a suling (a Balinese bamboo flute) creating the signature interlocking rhythms of Balinese Rindik music. Adding a contemporary twist, the performance will also include a saxophone, merging traditional melodies with a global fusion sound.

In addition to performing, the musicians will offer an engaging presentation, complete with a slideshow, providing deeper insight into the history and cultural significance of Balinese Gamelan music.

This special performance is part of the Cultural Center’s new Voyages series, supported by Explore Lincoln City and the WESTAF Tour West grant program.

Admission is free, donations will be gladly accepted at the door.
